Carol Ann Maner
Board Chair
Carol Ann graduated from the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work (GCSW). She worked for Change Happens! and later for Daring Ventures Counseling, Coaching, and Consulting, serving those impacted by co-occurring trauma, behavioral health, and mental health disorders. Today, Carol Ann is the Clinical Director of the Gambling Clinic of Texas.
Paul Maner
Board Secretary
Paul Maner is currently an Executive Assistant to a nonprofit and its former Executive Director. He is trained as a Certified Professional Recovery Coach (CPRC) and a Certified Professional Coach (CPC). He has worked as a professional Recovery and Life Coach specializing in sex addiction and gambling coaching. After a 30-year career, Paul retired from Shell Oil Products.
Lou DeNino
Board Treasurer
Former Research Professor of Health Economics and Policy at the University of Texas School of Medicine at San Antonio. Former Director of Strategic Analysis of the US Dept. Of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration. Led a multidisciplinary team that provided high-impact data analysis and integrated planning and analytic support across VHA. Developed reports, presentations, tools, and models that drove high-level strategic and business decisions. Former Economist-Chair Special Interest Committee of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA). Former Associate with the Sinclair Advisory Group. Current Principal with LDN Consulting, LLC.
Tamera Allen Bush
Board Director
Tamara Allen Bush LPC-S, NCC, CSAT, CMAT is a graduate of UNT, UNM and the International Institute of Trauma and Addiction. She has worked in all levels of care with a diverse client population and has experience in research, facility accreditation, program design and is EMDR trained. She has a virtual private practice and specializes in general mental health, attachment, addiction, process addiction, gambling, trauma, supervision, consultation and complex cases. She has published recent e-workbooks: the Attachment Map and Recalibrating the Arousal Template. She has presented at national conferences and symposiums. She is introducing a new line of business eClarity LLC which is a service to promote internet integrity and accountability. She worked with founders Dr. Collin Ross and Ruth Long, LPC-S to develop the Trauma Networking Group in 2015 which later became the Trauma Education Association (TEA) where she is the President of the Association. TEA has provided monthly continuing education credits for clinicians since 2017 to present.

Jerry Bauerkemper
Board Director
Jerry Bauerkemper, BS, CCGC is retired Executive Director of the Nebraska Council on Compulsive Gambling. Jerry Bauerkemper was the first director of problem gambling for the state of Nebraska. He is an internationally recognized trainer on Problem Gambling. Throughout the 35 years Jerry Bauerkemper has been involved in the disordered gambling field he has been involved in direct patient care as well as providing trainings and webinars throughout the United States and other countries Currently, he is a consultant for the Iowa gambling program helping agencies increase gambling utilization. Mr. Bauerkemper currently lives in Galveston Island Texas with his wife two dogs and a cat.
Saul Malek
Board Director
Saul Malek is a recovering compulsive gambler who shares his story with schools (both high school and college), athlete mental health organizations, suicide prevention groups, parent groups, popular news outlets (including New York Times, National Public Radio, Public Broadcasting Service, and Dallas Morning News). He has keynoted conferences including the 2023 Connecticut Council on Problem Gambling annual conference, the Wisconsin Council on Problem Gambling annual conference, and Mental Health America Greater Dallas Adolescent Symposium. He has appeared on Dr Phil Primetime and will be featured as a TedX speaker at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in March 2025.
